New Home...

I've now got the challenge bug, and the latest one I'm entering is Polka Doodles. The theme for their challenge is 'New Home'.

So for this card, I've chosen a slightly different approach, with colour and stamps. I wanted it to be more like a painting to show the different shades of colour, however the house is deliberately left desaturated to create a contrast. I've also added some pencil shading on the house and in certain areas around the trees. Hope you like it.

Sunday stamper challenge!

The theme for the Sunday stamper challenge this week is, paper. So here's my entry as I have been making a lot of tags lately. I thought I would make a tag for this challenge. I created my own background paper using stamps, inks and paints.

For the butterflies, I stamped onto acetate to give more dimension. Finished off with a touch of ribbon and string. Hope you like it.

Tattered and Torn

A new day a new challenge. Thought I would enter the Craft Stamper magazine, Take It Make It Challenge 2! To enter the challenge, you need to make something and include some form of ripping ,tearing and a bit of stamping. I've had this blank dress form for a couple of years now, so I used this for my inspiration to make a ripped Ra Ra dress (now I'm showing my age). So with a bit of stamped paper which was ripped and torn, I began to layer up and make the dress. For colour and texture I used Jenny Bowlin products (the dye based inks and paint dabbers). I also made some paper flowers and glazed them with glossy accents. Hope you like it.

Tell everyone it's our 200th post!...

Using the tile technique, i covered a 7 gypsies hard board blank book to make my own telephone directory. I also used my favourite Jenni Bowlin Dabber paints to paint the background & to stamp with. This is also my entry for the Sunday Stamper, the theme this week is paint.

New in today!

A quick update today. Three new hand made cards for sale in our shop. A thank you card for males, a quirky New Home card and a card for a friend when you need that special sentiment. Only 2 available of each in store.

A touch of black...

Created another home decor heart today. I decided to use a touch of black paint to give a different look against the cream. I decided to expriment with the frame stamp & use cream for a different medium to stamp with. Finished it off with cream lace & black buttons.

How to...

 Items needed: 

A4 cream sheet of card, Dye based inks, Kaiser craft stamps (frame, scallop lace, pickled pear) a piece of scrap paper, tape, glossy accents glue, Tim Holtz scissors, Tonic glass mat, string & an old book page.

 Take the card & score down the centre, fold & crease.

 Ink up the scallop laced stamp with a pale grey ink (if you have no grey, you can use black but use the 2nd or 3rd impression so it is more faded)











Place the stamp on the very left bottom corner, press firmly (i tend to just use the plastic backing rather than an arcylic block) i find that you can get a more detailed impression.

Without inking up the stamp again, make a 2nd impression on your scrap paper. This will be your mask.
Mask template: cut out.










Next take the frame stamp & use the black ink. Stamp so that the bottom of the frame is just above half of the card (as seen on the picture) Again as before make a mask on scrap paper & cut out.

 We are now going to start building up the background pattern with the lace stamp using your mask & grey ink.
Important: Don't forget to use you frame mask to cover the frame on the card, carry on masking & stamping all way down the card.

Remove the frame mask & your card should look something like the picture.

Next take the flower stamp &  ink with a bright colour (i've used Lavender Sachet) stamp just below the frame & to the left. Then re-ink with black & stamp over your original lavender flower (this gives a vintage effect).








Take your piece of book paper & stamp the frame anywhere you desire over the required text, cut out the middle (Remember to save this piece for later) & ink with Lavender Sachet. I've also added some cream paint to distress & a touch of black ink. (when inking a solid area, i tend to use kitchen roll as it gives a softer finish).









Stick the frame middle onto your card (see pictures below if your a little stuck with this) You can either use glue or tape to attach it.

Cut around the scalloped edge at the bottom of the card (this was the reason why we starte her with the stamping).












Punch a hole on the scored, creased side of the card. The hole should be around the stem area. This is to feed you string through & tie with a bow over the flower stem. Secure at the back with a piece of tape.













Following the lace pattern (where we have cut away at the bottom of the card) use a fine hole punch to give a punch effect. 
Tip: if you haven't got a punch a small as this, you can use your pokey tool.

Finally you need to add a sentiment of your choice to the card & that's it! 
Masking technique complete.
